September tracker reports show stable AI content levels across the editorial web and a wide gap between social media platforms.
COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO, CANADA, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Originality.ai’s latest research found that 46% of sampled long-form web articles were classified as Likely AI, while a separate analysis of social media posts placed LinkedIn highest among the five platforms studied, at 78%.
The September 2026 Dead Internet Tracker and Social Media AI Tracker examine how AI-generated writing is appearing across online publishing and social networks. Together, the findings show that AI content remains widespread, with its prevalence varying considerably by platform.
NEARLY HALF OF SAMPLED WEB ARTICLES CLASSIFIED AS LIKELY AI
Originality.ai analyzed 2,000 randomly selected long-form English-language articles across 1,105 unique domains captured by Common Crawl in September. Of those articles, 921, or 46.05%, were classified as Likely AI.
The result closely tracks July’s 46.3% and August’s 45.6%, indicating that the proportion of likely AI content in these samples has remained steady across the three reports.
Article length also mattered: 59% of sampled articles containing at least 1,500 words were classified as Likely AI, compared with 52% of articles containing 1,000–1,499 words.

• LinkedIn: 78%
• X: 62%
• Threads: 62%
• Facebook: 54%
• Reddit: 29%*
LinkedIn and X recorded increases from the previous report, while Threads, Facebook and Reddit recorded declines.
Facebook’s share fell from 65% in July to 54% in September, a decrease of 11 percentage points. Reddit had the lowest proportion among the platforms studied.

ABOUT THE RESEARCH
The reports describe sampled content rather than all content published online. The analyses used a 15% AI allowance when classifying content as Likely AI. Social media samples covered English-language posts, with post-length criteria varying by platform.
*Reddit findings reflect August 2026 posts because its data collection runs on a one-month delay.
